One of the most important parts of blogging is creating a recognizable brand. Most bloggers eventually settle on a certain look when it comes to the design on their blog and their Pinterest images. This creates a look that is easily recognized, one that you become known for and your super fans on Pinterest will click on your pins because they KNOW you always have great content.
Luckily with Canva you can use your own images as a template to quickly and easily reproduce images with all the same elements and fonts- all you have to do is switch out your headline text and update the images.
This is a huge time saver when it comes to creating featured images and Pinterest images that all have your same branding.
How to Create a Pinterest Template in Canva {the FREE way}
If you use Canva’s free account, you can easily reproduce your images via the Make a Copy feature.
Simply click on the arrow of the design you want to use as a template and click Make a Copy. A new file will appear on your design dashboard named “Copy of Design Name”
Then all you have to do is click on the new copy, rename it for your current work, and switch out the elements, text, and images.
You brand’s fonts, watermark, and colors are already there!
How to Create a Pinterest Template in Canva {the PAID way}
Canva is free to use, but they do have a Canva for Work option that has a lot of extra features that make it totally worth the cost. (My blogging philosophy is to not pay for anything other than education unless my blog income can pay for it….so use the free version until you are making some money with your blog!)
One of the things I love about Canva for Work is the ability to use your designs as layouts on all future designs. I also love the ability to resize and change dimensions. But to use a design as a template just begin a new design and name it for your current work.
Then click on the LAYOUTS option on the far left side. From the drop down menu choose ALL YOUR DESIGNS. Then just click on the design you want to use as a template.
It will appear on the design page and all you have to do is edit the text, elements and images to reflect your new post.
This is an easy way to create images that look alike but are in a variety of sizes such as a long image for Pinterest, a horizontal image for Facebook, a square image for a thumbnail or Instagram share, and so on. The template will load even if the original design and the new design are different sizes.
See how easy it is to create different images using the all the same elements? (If you are still lost when it comes to design, check out my Powerful Pin Design Bundle– it comes with 10 customizable templates to get you started!)
I switch up my pinterest template ALL. THE. TIME. But I like to keep the look of my featured images and on-the-blog elements consistent to create a beautifully designed and branded website that is clean and professional looking.
Canva saves me a ton of time when it comes to creating graphics- which means I have more time to spend with my family or on other blogging tasks!
